Bridge Day, USA
Tourism - West Virginia, New River Gorge Bridge, 270 meters. Bridge Day is the largest fair and festival in the united states attracting over a quarter million people a year. Our Pro B.A.S.E. team took this event in the 1990’s organizing over 400 jumpers each year. Our team grew the jumping portion into a world-renown B.A.S.E. industry trade show and the largest B.A.S.E. jumping event in the world today.
KL Tower, Malaysia
Patriotism, Tourism, Corporate Branding, 300 meters high - Our PRO B.A.S.E. jumping opened the first international B.A.S.E. Jumping event at the Kuala Lumpur Tower in Malaysia in the early 2000’s. We organized for several years and watched it become one of the most celebrated international B.A.S.E jumping events in the world. This year’s event spread out over four days, hosted 130 jumpers from 22 countries making over 2,500 jumps. A VIP public relations powerhouse; company VIP’s are treated to ringside window box seats in lavish settings and have the opportunity to partake in tethered “edge walking” as a taste of the extreme. Negotiations are underway for 2019 and other locations in Malaysia.
Jin Mao, China
Patriotism, Corporate branding, 420 meters high. Enter the power of B.A.S.E Demonstration Jumping. The 2nd largest corporation in the world and the second highest building in the world at the time, the Jin Mao and Macau events were B.A.S.E. jumping event pinnacles in complexity, coverage, and on-site attendance. Jin Mao alone was televised to over 2.5 billion with an estimated viewership of 1.25 Billion. Nearly 500,000 attended. VIP ringside seat “Golden Tickets” sold out at extraordinary prices. Lavish offerings and settings hosted some of China’s most powerful elite.
La Palapa, Mexico
Tourism, Hotel Promotion, Entertainment, 110 meters. Our Pro B.A.S.E. jumping event brought publicity to the area, attraction to the hotel, and entertainment to the La Palapa Hotel guests and visiting beach tourists. The boutique hotel required specific jumper selection and thoughtful jump planning. Jumping took place directly over an open and busy pool area, bar, and sunbathers. We are in contract negotiations with the hotel and local tourism office for 2019.
Pro B.A.S.E. Jumping Event Organizing Leaders
B.A.S.E organizing began in the mid 90’s with a small group of bandit jumpers. Back then, B.A.S.E jumping was the extreme end of extreme. Although we appeared in Mt. Dew commercials, car commercials, MTV segments, and heaps of other “XTreme” ads, getting legal access to objects to jump from, much less being seen as a valid sport, was difficult at best.
To be legitimate, we needed legal access to our most valuable B.A.S.E resource, cliffs, and the National Park System. To do this, we created the national organization Cliff Jumpers of America Association. The organization committed to legal access, equipment, and practice standardization.
To be seen as a sport, B.A.S.E jumping had to be competitive. Our PRO B.A.S.E. team created the International Pro B.A.S.E Circuit,( I.P.B.C.) The IPBC was a competitive learning team oriented circuit for all B.A.S.E jumpers to focus on specific skill-set advancement in a team environment. We directly trained two generations of advanced learning, safety, ethics, and gear improvements including some of the first B.A.S.E specific canopies. These early years opened many doors to not only sport legitimacy but object access as well.
Although the U.S. was genuinely interested and excited at the potential of this new born sport, America was not ready, yet. The lack of acceptance at home led us to Asia. We were welcomed there and given access to their most prized buildings. Our team opened prime territory for the sport of B.A.S.E jumping and built bridges that others still cross today.
