Skydiving Portraiture Team Four Play and Skydive New England

HPPortrait, Skydiving

On location studio lighting is simply amazing. On my quest and project for some serious skydiving portraiture I pulled a new four way team out from the beer line for some quick shots at Skydive New England.  They are training for The Skydiving U.S. Nationals competition in August and what better way to support them but with some great photos, right? As usual the day ran late into the sunset so we missed the most of the sunset, but there was just enough to make it work. Love this stuff. HP

So a while back, while intensely reading my Rangefinder and bumming that I couldn’t go to WPPI this year, I thought about my biggest and closest community, colleges and crazies. I came across several articles that were incredibly inspiring.  They always seem to pop up again and again.  The greats, those photographers who did something simple, set a trend, preserved a section in time of our heritage, of culture itself. You know what I am talking about, the greats like Ansel Adams for outdoor photography and the like. The other articles that catch my attention are the projects.  Where photogs actually think of something to do as opposed to just chasing, working, following.  A project, an idea, something to sink …

HPChildren, Portrait

Children make you want to start life over.  ~Muhammad Ali A very dear friend had a baby not to long ago.  I have been far away and not realizing how long it’s actually been I came ready to shoot a little baby only to find a boy. Bodhi immediately began to show off his new Christmas tool set upon my arrival.  A spitting image of his father, Ian, Bodhi had no trouble keeping busy and being industrious.  Christmas was good to Bodhi this year.  With his new tool set, work bench and assorted firetrucks and infrastructure I am sure Bodhi wouldn’t have any problem building our next city.  Not bad for 16 months. Children are an absolute blast to photograph.  …

Jeannie

HPGlamour, Portrait

Finding an enthusiastic subject who really wants to get some pictures is always a lot of fun.  Jeannie had enough of her mother asking for pictures, so she decided it was time to go get some.  Light was falling fast by the time we met up and we used our towns river walk to steal some pictures, most to the hoots and hollers of local patrons and passer-bys.  As soon as a group would even think about gathering, we were off to the next space.  Later Jeannie mentioned she felt like a movie star.  And, who is to know? I also know her mother and she is one who does not get along with computers very well.  I wanted her …

Sikorsky Christmas

HPFamily Portraits, Portrait

This Christmas weekend I had the fortunate pleasure of spending some time with my Unkle Jon and friends.   A late afternoon Christmas dinner filled with more food and abundance then we could make a dent in, complete with ham, turkey and homemade eggnog.  A neighborhood affair, all the cool kids from the block came out for the feast.    And the best weather of the week.  The very next day is when the “Winter Storm” hit hard! After losing any real light from sunset and fully getting in the way of another family photog, it was time for some seriously quick strobist lighting put to the test. Jon Sikorsky owns and operates “Diamond Quest“, a security and surveillance integrator and installer.  …
